چکیده

Abstract Objective This study was conducted to accomplish a better insight into the impact of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) at risk Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and their possible pathogenicity. Methods We carried out systemic review accessible studies. The case–control studies were assessed by an electronic search international local databases identify relevant on SNPs relating nAChR genes in AD. Two reviewers evaluated inclusion/exclusion criteria, summarized, analyzed extracted data. used odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for reporting our Online checked pathogenicity statistically significant SNPs. Also, online databases, including NCBI, NIH, ClinVar, RegulomeDB, Ensemble, analyze structure function, DNA features, flank sequencing Results Among all collected SNPs, rs4779978 rs1827294 CHRNA7, rs1044394 CHRNA4, rs1127314 CHRNB2 showed between AD cases controls. Conclusions Some from reviewed reports show evidence supporting involvement pathology. However, more comprehensive are necessary exact correlation role disease.

Modulation of Basal Glutamatergic Transmission by Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors in Rat Hippocampal Slices

Objective(s) Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) regulate epileptiform activity and produce a sustained pro-epileptogenic action within the hippocampal slices. In the present study, we investigated the effect of nAChRs on evoked glutamatergic synaptic transmission in area CA3 and CA1 of rat hippocampal slices to identify possible excitatory circuits through which activation of nAChRs pr...

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and cancer

Nicotine, the primary addictive constituent of cigarettes, is believed to contribute to cancer promotion and progression through the activation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), which are membrane ligand-gated cation channels. nAChRs activation can be triggered by the neurotransmitter Ach, or certain other biological compounds, such as nicotine. In recent years, genome-wide associa...

Assembly and trafficking of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (Review).

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are members of an extensive super-family of neurotransmitter-gated ion channels. In humans, nAChRs are expressed within the nervous system and at the neuromuscular junction and are important targets for pharmaceutical drug discovery. They are also the site of action for neuroactive pesticides in insects and other invertebrates. Nicotinic receptors are ...

Review Article The Oncogenic Functions of Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are ion channels that are expressed in the cell membrane of all mammalian cells, including cancer cells. Recent findings suggest that nAChRs not only mediate nicotine addiction in the brain but also contribute to the development and progression of cancers directly induced by nicotine and its derived carcinogenic nitrosamines whereas deregulation of the...
